Control Room Operator Emergency Response (CROER)

This program provides competency assessment and training for control room operators in emergency response protocols and procedures. It ensures that CROs are equipped to effectively manage and respond to emergency situations within their operational environment.

Program Content and Assessment

  • The program focuses on practical application through simulated emergency scenarios using a simulator of the candidate’s own Asset Type and the candidate’s own procedures.
  • Scenarios are developed using relevant information from the Client Company Safety Case and Emergency Response Plan for the candidate’s appropriate asset type.  
  • Competency is assessed against elements related to emergency response within the control room environment.
  • There is a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 assessment attempts to ensure sufficient opportunity for demonstration of competency.

Prerequisites

Candidates must meet the following prerequisites:

  • A formal declaration from the candidate’s employer confirming that the candidate has achieved the performance criteria in Element 1.1 in the workplace.  
  • Confirmation that the candidate has satisfied the core essential knowledge and asset type knowledge requirements.
  • The candidate must be deemed ready for formal assessment against Elements 1.2 to 1.6 by their employer.

Methodology

Assessments are conducted using a simulator of the candidate’s own Asset Type and procedures. This ensures a realistic and relevant assessment experience.
